It's not a blanket with a cord. It's a sweater with a secret.

Most heated blankets plug into the wall and look like it. This one wraps over the shoulders and zips closed at the front, in a soft, textured jacquard knit you would actually wear out of the house, with gentle heat across the back and shoulders. Choose it with the power bank and it goes to the porch, the office or the bleachers with no cord to the wall.

Warm on the couch at home. Warm at Grandma's. Warm in the stands. She keeps a blanket on the sofa and a cardigan on the office chair. This does the job of both.

It looks like a cozy knit cape, because it is one. Inside, thin carbon fiber heating panels sit across the back and shoulders in eight zones. Plug the power bank into the USB cable, press the round button on the chest, and warmth spreads where she feels the cold first. Three settings, about 95°F, 113°F and 131°F: low for a long evening, medium for the drafty office, high for the morning walk to the car.

The full-length zip means it stays on when she moves. Zipped up, it is a warm layer for the porch, the stands or the drive. Unzipped, it drapes like a shawl over a sweater. Open flat, it is a heated lap blanket for movie night. The soft grey lining sits against her, the knit faces out.

She will tell you she does not need it. Then she will not take it off.

Heating: carbon fiber layer and double-helix heating wire in eight zones across the back and shoulders. Three settings: about 95°F, 113°F and 131°F. Warm in about 15 seconds. 10W.

Power: USB, 5V/2.1A. The 10,000mAh power bank is included with the "Included" option; without it, any 5V 2A USB power bank works.

Fabric: outer knit 68% cotton, 29% polyester, 3% other fiber, in a textured jacquard. Lining 95% polyester, 5% spandex, a soft grey fleece. Full-length front zip.

Care: unplug the cable and take out the power bank first. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle in a laundry bag, or hand wash. Lay flat to dry. Do not iron, tumble dry or dry clean.

How to use

1. Charge the power bank fully before first use.
2. Connect the shawl's USB cable to the power bank.
3. Press and hold the button on the chest to switch on. Press to change between the three settings.
4. Press and hold again to switch off, then unplug the power bank.

Safety

• Start on the lowest setting and check how it feels.
• Do not sleep while it is switched on, and do not use it on a child, or on anyone who cannot feel heat or switch it off themselves.
• Do not use it if the fabric or cable is wet or damaged.
• If you have a health condition or reduced feeling in your skin, ask your doctor before using heat.

• Low-voltage heat. Runs on 5V USB at 10W, about the same power as a phone charger, not mains power like a plug-in blanket.
• Overheat protection. An NTC temperature sensor runs alongside the heating wire and cuts power if it gets too hot.
• Layered, flame-retardant wire. PTC heating wire wrapped in a flame-retardant layer and soft, fold-resistant insulation.
• You set the warmth. Three settings on one button on the chest, off with a long press.
• Washable. Take out the power bank, then machine wash cold on gentle in a laundry bag. Lay flat to dry, no tumble dryer.
• No cord to trip over. The power bank rides with you, so there is nothing plugged into a wall.

You have 7 days from delivery to return or exchange it.

To return it for a refund, it needs to be unused outside, unwashed and complete, with its cable and its power bank if you chose it. Switching it on at home to test the heat is fine. Email hello@wintermae.com with your order number and we'll send the return address. Return shipping is paid by you, and a $15 restocking fee is taken from the refund on heated items. Refunds go back to your original payment method.

Need a different size or color? Same 7 days. Return shipping is paid by you, there is no restocking fee on an exchange, and we send the replacement once yours is on its way back.
